The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, known as the LDS Church or, more colloquially, the Mormon Church, is the largest denomination originating from the Latter-Day Saint movement founded by Joseph Smith. Its members are colloquially referred to as "Mormons."
I would not characterize "Stranger Things'" portrayal of The Church of Jesus Christ and its members that way. There is one Latter-day Saint character The Church of Jesus Ch... How did Joseph Smith, educated at home with maybe a year of formal education, write such a large work in 2-3 months?
The Boise Idaho temple of the LDS Church (Mormons) is pretty. Mormons hold special services at the temple that aren't done at regular church services, like sealings, weddings and baptism proxy for the dead. You can read more about this at mormons.org. Right next to the freeway, it's hard to miss.
