I had a chance to eat at Tugboat and by far this is the best fish and chips Ive ever had. I did order their clam chowder as well. It was served hot and creamy, perfectly seasoned and you get a generous serving of the clam pieces and potatoes even though I ordered only a small bowl of it. But I was simply amazed after taking just one bite of the fish and prawns, I couldn't believe how light and crispy, delicious and non greasy they were. To top it all, I ordered my combo with the Hush Poppies as suggested by Nathan. And it was GREAT!! I had a great experience eating at Tugboat. Not only you get great food but you will meet the nicest people here. Nathan is super helpful and accommodating
and genuinely kind and warm. I also met his parents who cooked everything to perfection. This restaurant has been standing here for the last 17 years. No doubt this restaurant will never disappoint.
Great price, great service, great sauce, and great fish. However, I am knocking off a star for the fries; they were a bit bland. Other than that, I can definitely recommend this place for anyone looking to eat fish n chips!
Best fish and chips in town! Love the family who runs the place and they remember our specific condiments and items we like. Fish and popcorn shrimp is delicious and we favor their fried zucchini! Definitely visit weekly!
Most everything was delicious. Fantastic customer service.
Coleslaw- lightly dressed with crunchy cabbage.
Fried fish, prawns, onion rings and lumpia were all light and crispy with a clean, buttery oil flavor.
Wish they would season the batter a bit more, but the sauces- tartar, cocktail, sweet and sour, ranch- make up for that.
Unfortunately, my main reason for trying this place out was for the clam strips, which were a bit of a disappointment. They were made with a cornmeal batter that was very dry and the clam pieces were so small that I couldn’t even taste them.
Stopped in for a quick bite and comparison and must say, it was very good. Light batter on the fish and prawns and the hush puppies were moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. The husband/wife team and very sweet but hard to understand their broken English but again, they were willing to help out any way they could. We will definitely be back but need a break from everything being fried! Cheers!!
