Nimbus Fish Hatchery

Great place to visit. Visitor Center is closed but ladder viewing area and walk along American River are so worth seeing.Free ample parking.

This visitors center is closed but you can still see a lot of salmon up the fish ladder area. They also have a really cool window view of the fish as well. I always bike past this area but never stopped to look at everything. Cool experience with my kid. Will have to come back when the visitors center open, but still can enjoy watching these huge salmon in action.

The new fish ladder is so cool! Went beginning of November and there was a constant flow of fish. Visitors center and juvenile ponds areclosed right now but you can still see the fish ladder and walk on the river path. Parking is free but closes around 3pm.

We love going to the hatchery to check out the salmon. The ladder wasn't open but the flume and the new windows were a nice surprise. The only bummer was that all but one of the windows was fogged up. We were disappointed that raceway where you feed the fish and the playground were closed. Wd still had a great morning walking down the river.will definitely be back soon to see if the ladder is flowing.

Google and some other apps show this place as Open, however it is not. We drove all the way here to find it closed. Suggest calling ahead to know when it is actually open. Otherwise, there are awesome hiking trails next to it to enjoy when it's closed
