Sojourner Truth African Heritage Museum

...an amazing experience! Best museum on African American art I have ever seen...and I've been to the MLK memorial in Atlanta.

This is an incredible museum with beautiful art and thought-provoking exhibits. The museum curator and the volunteers were easy to talk to and kind. Took a small field trip of high schoolers, and they were wonderful with them!

I visited the Sojourner Truth African Heritage Museum with a group of colleagues on a recent trip to Sacramento and what an incredible experience it was. It has been over a week since our visit and I am still feeling and thinking about the impact of the experience. This museum is thoughtfully curated to allow for a educational experience for all ages and backgrounds.

Shonna and Alpha welcomed our group with open arms. The sense of community and care is palpable!

This was a BEAUTIFUL display of my heritage and culture! I think I paid 3 dollars to enter and that was a definitely a steal for the amount of information you get. It was very informative and there wasn't anyone following me around talking about the things I was seeing. I was able to go at my own pace and take the info in and process it at my own pace. Beautiful artwork! Beautiful sculptures! Beautiful story! Beautiful people!!! The best part is that it's not FULLY done yet. They're still adding to it

I love this place. It’s full of love and knowledge. I learned a lot about African culture. I can’t wait to go again with my daughter.
