We headed there 2days before New Year, and the climate change was quite noticeable. It started snowing as soon as we got out of the car. We managed to complete the trail without much challenge since it was a path that others had already taken. The area is vast, but due to the weather, we only completed a small portion. We plan to return in the spring. The only thing that gave us the creeps was the public restroom, haha, it was in a dreadful state.
I've been hiking this trail for many years, I love it. Great views and so much to teach my granddaughter about nature.
The only problem I find is that people don't respect the animals or land.....trash is left and not packed out. We picked up so much garbage, my 7 year old granddaughter knows to leave it cleaner than you found it, sure wish everyone did the same.
This is a beautiful part of Big Bear, especially in the fall and winter. The trails are dog friendly and you get a view of the Snow Summit ski resort. You can walk for miles on a paved trail.
Nice and easy beginner trail with some views of the local mountains and the lake. I come here first to stretch my legs after sitting in my car for so long. Good cell phone reception here.
Great trail with wonderful granite outcroppings and pretty lake views. ~2 mile loop, smooth trail, not paved but not steep either. Saw many families out and went with a group of friends. Easy and fun!
