Old Fashion Donuts

Came in this morning and spent $9.20 for old fashion milk and Arizona im all for supporting small businesses but thats a little much just saying

This donut shop was my childhood memories. I would go to this donut shop every morning. My mom owned a dry cleaners in same shopping center. I went to pay a visit and the donuts still taste the same just like how I remember it. I brought my kids and they love the flavors and the different varieties.

Like most of my best food and cultural finds throughout the Greater Los Angeles area, I stumbled across this OUTSTANDING donut place in a 1980’s strip mall on the edge of LA county. Perfectly located big mere feet from the on-ramp to the 60west at the Ramona on-ramp.
Old FashionED(note to Google, past tense!)is their name and quality donuts is surely their game. I stop at nearly every strip mall donut store I come across, probably around 40+ a year and I am pretty serious about my ratings so it is no easy task to impress me yet they have done that easily!! Today being my 6-7th trip here and like any quality place, their treats do not waver in any way. Many 24 hr places spend the overnights ignoring customers, dumping stale leftovers on the motley crews who tend to frequent the only open stores where they can get a cup of hot coffee while they try to make it to sunrise one more time. Not here! Today I showed up at 2:45 am and was greeted by an overflowing display of confections, some still hot from the ovens. I’m not sure if their names except for Diana who works the counter. The two Hispanic guys who are doing the cooking look to be brothers and greet you cheerily which is def the exception I’m the 24hr biz. As typical there are the full arrangement of scratchers to dump your money including KENO! which is seemingly disappearing from many places. And as one of the endangered persons who still enjoy a cig with my coffee and donuts it is a really nice gesture to see small tables out front WITH ASHTRAYS!! Amen to that nice touch. Yeah, yeah they’re going to kill me etc. But those uptight non-smokers always strike me as someone wound far to tight that could have a stroke any moment. And Mother Nature surely has no better laxative than hot coffee, a donut and the days first smoke!
This has been s long review because I can honestly say of the HUNDREDS of mom and pop donut shops I’ve visited statewide ‘Old Fashioned’ is easily top 3 and quite possibly my favorite. I’m going to need to check them out at a couple different times to cement their reputation. Oh! And you MUST try their flor tortilla filled with fruit cooked like a donut and covered in perfect sugar glaze. Kind of a crepe on crack!! And just like that evil drug, one is never enough!! My hats off to you all!!!
