This home is excellent. It's a great place to get sober, form new and healthy relationships, become responsible, and get a jump start on a successful and fulfilling life. The location is awesome, just a couple of miles from the beach and near shopping centers, its really right in the middle of North County San Diego so it doesn't take too long to get anywhere. The house is clean and its a nice, peaceful environment to stay clean. And to clarify regarding the post about costs, there is a $200 non refundable cleaning supply and drug testing fee upon entry, it is necessary to stock the house with toilet paper, cleaning supplies, pots, pans, etc., all items that the residents do not have to provide for themselves. First Step does drug test regularly and provides excellent service for its residents.

I'll start off by saying that I have lived in seven sober livings and have been trying to stay sober the past 9 years. Since moving into First Step, my life has only gotten better. It is the perfect environment to get connected with other men in recovery and form long lasting friendships, which seems to be a rarity these days in the recovery community. The managers are really cool and willing to help anyone who is willing to help themselves. They have really helped me out along the way and Its easy to tell that their hearts are really invested in getting people help and back on the right track. Many of my friends have come through First Step Sober Living and now have jobs, families back in their lives, and overall lives worth living. I understood that certain rules and requirements would be expected of me during my stay at First Step and If you are as desperate and willing to change your life as I was then these rules won't be too much to follow. After being around recovery for over 9 years First Step Sober Living is no doubt a great place to adapt to life in recovery. If you are willing to go to any length to stay sober and have a life filled with peace and happiness then this house is a great place to start or transition into. I thank God everyday for my sobriety and for the opportunity of living at this house with guys I can truly call my brothers.

Over the years I have been in multiple sober livings and none of them have had the impact that this house has had on my life. It has offered me the opportunity to live in a clean environment with other guys who are serious about changing their lives. The house accommodates my work schedule and is a great place to transition back into society without feeling like I'm in another institution. I now have 11 months of continuous sobriety and a great job all thanks to First Step Sober Living. My favorite part of the house aside from being close to the beach, is the fact that as long as I continue to stay sober, clean up after myself and find a job, management allows me the opportunity to live my life with minimal restrictions such as curfew, house meetings and random drug testing. My life now is night and day different from a year ago and am grateful to finally feel some hope for my future.

Structured, clean, and affordable environment for Men looking to transform their lives. Quiet neighborhood, close to all amenities. Short distance to the beach as well! I highly recommend to anyone on a path to bettering their life. House manager and staff genuinely care and go above and beyond to accommodate residents' needs.
