  I first met Papalegua at my local YMCA to learn capoeira as I thought it would be a good way for me to lose weight and to expose my son to an art that would develop his spirit and soul through rhythm and dance. After Papalegua opened his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Capoeira studio, Ribiero Eastlake, I decided to enroll both me and my son. I had a personal goal of bonding with my son through the art of Capoeira and Brazilian jiu jitsu. But what started out as a bonding experience with my son has turned into a whole lot more. Ribeiro Eastlake, Papalegua, and the Alencar family have given me and my family life. It takes a village to develop healthy souls and the Eastlake Ribeiro family serves as the ether that connects us to a world where we are often trying to find the balance between family, faith, work, and finances. The families that are lucky enough to enter through its doors find a second home and in over the course of a few months I’ve watched my son develop his social skills as he is more self confident because of his second family at Ribeiro Eastlake.

  A fantastic place to train. The energy and professionalism of the instructors is unmatched and them, as well as the students are very friendly. The Capoeira classes that they have there as well are phenomenal. Highly recommend!

  Best experience I have had in all my years as a martial artist they are truly a great academy excellent vibes to train and super supportive of every person that walks through their doors whether they compete or not

  This academy is amazing!!! Our oldest boy is in the youth program and Sensei Papalegua is patient yet demanding . The academy is very clean and welcoming. We were so excited that this academy is in our neighborhood because we love to support local!
