Every spring, we take Connect English students on this hike. They love it until the return hike up the hill. And they still enjoy the awesome day every time. Bring plenty of water and sunscreen. And make sure you get your permits ahead of time at recreation.gov. The rangers DO show up down there, and they DO examine everyone's permits.
Great hike with beautiful views. The waterfall at the end of the trail is so rewarding. The trail both ways is little bit over five miles. You will need to purchase permit from their website ahead of time.
Had the trail to ourselves this morning. What a beautiful sunrise and tons of fish in the falls!! New wood benches with a bit of shade cover.
We missed the posts that said you had to have a permit. We got there and the sign said there were no more permits left for that day. I checked online anyway and there were plenty of permits. So, don't trust the sign.
The rating for the trail said "Difficult". I have hiked difficult trails, this was not one of them. The trail down was a very even steady grade. Once you get near the falls there is a little tiny bit of bouldering, but certainly not difficult.
We did this in winter and the weather was perfect for a six mile hike. I could see where summer might get too hot.
Bring plenty of water and snacks and you'll be fine.
I never would have thought I could find a waterfall out by Ramona, but there it was... cute little falls and a nice place to spend some quiet time.
We went the day after Christmas. It had been raining the past few days, and we were blessed with beautiful weather. We went twice last year, and there was no waterfall. Finally, there is water flowing after the past few days’ rain 👏🏻. Felt accomplished hiking 6 miles. 😊. We typically go in the morning and this time, we arrived at 3 pm. We had to rush back since the sun sets over the mountain & can get dark very quickly. Just an important note to get a permit prior to going at recreation.gov.
