I retired a year ago, and one of my goals now that I have time, was to learn how to play a musical instrument. I have zero musical ability and have no prior experience as well. I chose the ukulele as my instrument and signed up for lessons at the San Marcos Leading Note.

Susan S. was my instructor and all I can say is, she is a miracle worker! I went from not even knowing how to hold it, to actually being able to play songs! Susan is an excellent instructor with a good instinct on how to explain musical techniques to improve your playing skills. I highly recommend Leading Note Studio and an even higher recommendation for Susan!

We enjoy having our 7 year old child attend Leading Notes in San Marcos to learn the drums. The teachers are knowledgeable and the place is very organized and clean. The staff are really helpful.

The only thing I would change is the makeup policy so students could have more time to use their make up lessons. Right now, if you call off greater than 24 hours, you receive a make up lesson that you have to use within 2 months. It is difficult to find a spot due to the availability of teachers and schedules that don't always work out (for example my child attends public school so we are limited in the time frame after school or Saturday). We've been attending for only 3 months and didn't know this rule so they were able to extend my time period to find an open time to do makeup lessons for one more month.

My kids have taken piano, guitar and musical theater and we love all of them! Each of their instructors is great, both in proficiency and in their attitude! Because of Leading Note, our family is loving playing music together, and as a pastor, I’ve even had the opportunity to play music with my kids in church!
