Great place. Keep your eyes open though. Rattlesnakes on the trails, Bobcats are in the brush and coyotes sneak up behind you.
Nice 1 mile loop, you feel like you are out in nature, with neighborhoods close by. Can fish too!!
Loved it, was it the best trail I've ever done, no, but at 1 mile, this is a great one for kids and families and dog walks, or a short jog. The topography is cool, water views, lots of flowers, not too much incline, new fences, bench, dog stations, and access to fish.
Nice, serene place for a quick break from the busy life. Fishing was better for practice than actually landing anything, there's a lot of reeds and obstacles in the water. No facilities onsite and the path down to the southeast shore was a bit sketchy. Great for individuals, pairs, novice anglers, and dog walkers, but I wouldn't bring little kids here.
This is a beautiful, brand new park that opened this week in San Marcos! The parking lot is a small one, but it has a few wheelchair accessible parking spots at the start of the trail. The trail itself is a mile around the lake, flat ground, tightly packed dirt/gravel. There isn't too much shade on the trail, so come prepared for the sun and heat. You can bring your dog but keep them on a leash, and please do not bring them when it's hot outside...the ground gets hot and burns their paws. It's very quiet and peaceful out here. I really love it. You can also fish if you want! It's legal!
