Very sweet bowls!
I asked if their bowl bases had any added sugar or of it was blended with apple juice, etc. The girls adamantly said no and guaranteed that they were all organic , and "all natural".
Sadly, that cannot be true--my guess is that the pre-made bases come with organic cane sugar. I make bowls and smoothies at home all the time, and I've cooked with ube and taro before. While I could not get a picture of the nutrition labels of the pre-made mixes, you can tell by the taste that they're sweetened. The bases are SO sweet, the fruit tastes tart. It was like having froyo with fruit. I thought I found a healthy place for bowls that wasn't overly sweet.
Only 1 star taken off because the customer service was on point and the fruit was delicious! My girlfriend got a turkey wrap and it was also very good. Additionally, very fair pricing for all their items. I think itnwas $8.99 for a bowl and $10.99 for a wrap.
To the owner(s): If I'm wrong, and the bases of the bowls (ube, pitaya, again, etc) do NOT come with added sugar, please let me know /post a pic and I'll update my review!
The thing I don't like about small businesses is there never very friendly, it always empty inside. It's not a very homely. It could just be me, or the cashier working today, but I always feel like I'm interrupting their day by coming in. There Acia bowls are great and the tune stuffed cucumber is hard to eat but yummy. Today I got a green salad W/ Turkey and an Acia bowl. Acia bowls come standard with W/ Acai, granola, coconut, strawberry, bananas and blueberry. I substitute the blueberries for pineapple (cause I'm picky about my ripeness of blueberries) and I added peanut butter as a protine. The Acia bowl is perfect and yummy as usual. The salad is hard to eat. I mean every restaurant does it so no starts off for it, but I can't mix it myself in this little bowl. And then they give you this tiny thing of salad dressing. That's not gonna dress my whole salad... I like this place it's clean and quiet There menu is on 4 TVs connected unevenly, but that's my OCD. I will continue to go Herr and I will recommend it, it's just not very inviting inside.
There are so many places out there that do fruit salads, or smoothies and acai bowls, or sandwiches etc but I can't say I've found anywhere outside of Mexico who comes close to what Kravings does.
They have a bit of everything- aguas frescas, smoothies, fruit salads, bowls, tortas, wraps, different Mexican snacks and street foods. It's all made fresh to order!
I stopped by for lunch with my hubs and cousin, and we shared a pitaya bowl, chamango drink, a large fruit salad and a milanesa torta. WOW! We were all blown away by how good it all was. I've traveled around Mexico for work, and the torta really reminded me of what I would get in the different regions of Mexico. The bread is made especially for their tortas, and it's as long as my arm. They have a house made chipotle crema, and they also top it with pickled onions and carots as well as avocado. The milanesa was pounded really thin and had a nice seasoned crunchy batter on it.
The fruit salad was so huge I brought home a little leftovers; a great variety of seasonal fruits topped with granola, coconut and cottage cheese. The chamango and pitaya bowl were super refreshing in this heat too.
We've agreed - this is sooooo epically good we will totally make the trek out from Vista/Oceanside again when we crave a torta because this is the best we've found.
