“Being a student in the school, this school is of course a private school, funded by the students and the sponsoring churches. there are many aspests of the school that should be changed, but there are also many that are great. the small classes allow students to create lasting friendships, with multiple people, unlike in public schools with only a select few. groups are very close and tightly knitted, but many welcome new kids. the academic programs aren’t on par as public schools, but it provides opportunities for students to shine and readies them for college with hard work. the sports programs are solid, despite the need of coaches. some teachers must be removed in my humble opinion, but a few of the teachers are extremely professional and good with their jobs. however, some teachers are close-minded, and some of the faculty do not allow the students to have as much enjoyment out of older events, due to their opinion of safety issues. this school is for those who are looking for a safe haven, close friendships, and a place to express freely about religion. Lol”

“Islamic School of San Diego (ISSD) has a new name, Bright Horizon Academy (BHA). It is one of the best Islamic schools in US. In 2021, it is only the third full time Islamic high school in San Diego. My elder daughter studied their from KG thru 8th. My younger daughter in graduating 8th and will continue in the high school. The teachers are very dedicated, has great Islamic environment and core education is also good. There are two campuses, elementary school is in Claremont area while middle and high school is in Allied Gardens campus.”

“I've been doing yoga for decades now, but had drifted away from practicing for awhile. When the craving hit to get back to yoga, I decided on a private instructor instead of studio classes. John has been hands down one of the best teachers I've ever worked with. He's very knowledgeable with different styles of yoga and has an excellent understanding of body mechanics. He's so respectful and has such a professional teaching style, but is also very fun and joyful. His ability to tailor my practice to what I'd like to focus on is perfectly balanced with some challenges (otherwise I can never be trusted to do any core work). Whether we are reaching for the sky with powerful standing poses, or doing some restorative Yin, John brings such a genuinely good energy and devotion to teaching. His practice space is private, peaceful, and has a lovely canyon view. I'm so grateful to have found him!”

“I was among the first "full year" graduating class of Fulton Elementary in 1964. The school opened in 1962 as a split off of Freese Elementary. Boone Elementary was an earlier spin-off a year earlier. It was great to be the first kids in the new school. It was during that first full year that President Kennedy was assassinated. I can still remember vividly coming back from morning recess and Mr. Dybes (6th grade) and Mr. Huber (5th grade) were talking in a whispered tone. Once we got back into the classroom, Mr Dybes told us the horrific news. Everyone was in shock. We were able to watch a news report on TV briefly before getting back to the regular class schedule...it was the the worst of times for our Nation yet for a kid 12 years old, the best of times at Fulton. We had a music teacher who would come and teach instruments (I learned the clarinet). We had Lyle Bond from Channel 10 Sports come and talk to all the 4-6th grade boys, Lots of great memories at Robert Fulton Elementary!!”

I wish you can sit anywhere you like there and get out to play whenever also. I disliked to that I had to wait for a specific time. I hope they changed that. Ever way it is a good school.”

“My daughter has been going to Tenaya’s class for over a year. We appreciate how encouraging and flexible she is! My daughter loves going every week, she’s never once not wanted to go which means a lot considering like most 7 year olds, she is usually done after trying something a few times. You can tell Tenaya really enjoys teaching and works at my child’s pace to encourage her through harder pieces. Definitely worth the investment to have my daughter not only learn an instrument but also build her confidence in trying hard things!”

“I found this retreat in a time of needeing exactly this, a simple beautiful place where I could rest, cleans and not feel pressured to be or do too much. Memo is a great spiritual counselor and everyone who's taking care of the land are amazing people. Their juicing therapy is great and tasty. the land is like a warm mom taking care of you.The entire time i felt at home and taken care. I enjoyed my room, the hot tubs, the evenings in front of the fire having spiritual discussions and playing music. I met amazing people that like me were there to rest and repleninsh. Their yoga istructor was great as well and so the crystal sound meditation Memo's wife did for the group. Love this place!”
