A hidden SF gem. Great for dogs, clean and beautiful. Love the hiking trails.
Its so peaceful. I had a bay party for my kids there. The guests loved it. The only issues i had were that i got a tick bite and took forever to get off and they do not allow open flames. So no BBQ.
In my humble opinion, this part, like Portola neighborhood itself where the park is located, is a hidden gem and underrated.
This park is huge! It made up of different kind of terrines through tour the park. This place also include quite a few nicely built lakes, children’s play ground area. It even has a amphitheater inside the park which serves many free concerts in the summer! It even has a designated area to unleash dogs to play freely!
Last but not least, it has this amazing Birdseye view of downtown SF right at the entrance side of the park where you can simply enjoy a quick picnic with this amazing view!
There is so much more this park has to offer. Just go enjoy its beauty!
This park is great for everyone! There's playgrounds for the kids, a duck pond and lots to explore. Plenty of trails to hike up, down and around the hills through the trees you will find some great views and beautiful forests to explore. Walk up to the water tower and take a gander at The City from the top. The park is clean with plenty of parking areas scattered throughout to make it easy to get around to new spots since the park is so large. Bring your dogs to hike and hang out by the pond. There's also a kids rec room for activities. Great family, dog friendly place.

136 reviews of John Mclaren Park "Cool park and this place is HUGE! I used to come here back in the days as a kid to walk around the pond they have there and we use to fish these little crawfishes too... but John McLaren Park is huge! We met lots of friendly dogs, and ours was thankfully well-behaved.
