Amazing gem on the coast. You go from beach coastal vibe to dense redwood forest. Home to so many banana slugs - highly recommend!
Great place to hide from the heatwave - it stays cool even when rest of the coast is red hot. Some trails are closed after the fire; entrance fee is $10. Parking is limited.
Best Park of you like to look for banana slugs. We found 40 in one visit!
Love this park. Perfect place to see banana slug and newts. Most of the trails are closed except a few one. Highly recommend for a weekend visit.
A year has past since the Czu August complex fires and the landscape is recovering quite rapidly. They want 10 bucks for day use parking. There's no camping, no water, and a large portion of the park is closed. I would park at the intersection of Canyon Rd and Cloverdale Rd (free), and hike the Butano fire road out and back. I also like to walk along Gazos Creek road, but watch out for the logging trucks on weekdays. There's a trail on the other side of Gazos creek which is a bit hard to follow (shown on topo map). Pictured is where a car burned and the soil was remediated. Also a beautiful waterfall coming back to life 😎 Godspeed to those rebuilding. RIP to the poor man that didn't make it out 😥
