(August 20, 2022, 10:08 pm)Great place to hide from the heatwave - it stays cool even when rest of the coast is red hot. Some trails are closed after the fire; entrance fee is $10. Parking is limited.

(August 17, 2021, 6:38 pm)A year has past since the Czu August complex fires and the landscape is recovering quite rapidly. They want 10 bucks for day use parking. There's no camping, no water, and a large portion of the park is closed. I would park at the intersection of Canyon Rd and Cloverdale Rd (free), and hike the Butano fire road out and back. I also like to walk along Gazos Creek road, but watch out for the logging trucks on weekdays. There's a trail on the other side of Gazos creek which is a bit hard to follow (shown on topo map). Pictured is where a car burned and the soil was remediated. Also a beautiful waterfall coming back to life 😎 Godspeed to those rebuilding. RIP to the poor man that didn't make it out 😥
