amazing camp site with beautiful trees and creeks, fun for biking as well.
Great hike! Followed the Jackson Flats trail up and the fire road/Mill Ox trail down, 5.5 miles, moderate difficulty, 2.5 hours. Watch out for California newts and banana slugs underfoot. Look up at redwoods and Douglas fir. If it is clear you have good vistas at the top. Muddy and moderately slippery so wear good boots.
Probably the best redwood park in the bay area. Not as well known as Muir Woods or Big Basin and not as easy to reach. Probably that's why it gets less crowds.
If you are in the half moon bay area, make sure to visit this place.
This is a great place for camping or day trips. It’s easily accessible from the peninsula and South Bay area, and the drive along 1 is lovely. There are many tent sites and RV spots amidst beautiful redwoods, in addition to a creek that is easily accessible from the main road and many hikes. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating.
This is one of the quieter redwood state parks. Has a remote feel, even though it's close to urban areas. One a midday during the week, you might be one of only a handful of people here.
