Five stars because of unique experience, that’s the first time I try Ethiopian cuisine.
The food itself was very spicy 🌶️. I’ve tried meat, shrimps and chicken dishes, forgot their names, but only the chicken one could be considered “mild” , other stuff was sooo strong for me 🥵. Same for the bread (not sure if one can call it tortilla). Also, every dish I tried was a bit dry, so I had to drink a lot.
Interior is also unique, they have some paintings, some colored walls, some ethnic decorations. Even plates are fun. There huge jars with spices, I bet they are spicy indeed.
Didn’t like their “open menu on your phone” policy.
Food: 4/5
Service: 5/5
Ambiance: 5/5
Overall: I was looking for food driving back to SF. I was able to find this place and I loved everything about it.
The extended review...
Food:
Combo Plate - 4/5 - I chose the sega (beef) and doro (chicken). The flavor was awesome and it definitely filled me up. It also came with a couple sides of veggies so i chose the zikuni and gomen.
Service: 5/5 - The staff was amazing! Very friendly and attentive.
Ambiance: 5/5 - So when I got here the main indoor seating was closed and I wasn't sure if it was even open. Then you go back to the patio which was around the corner and it was very pleasant and unexpected.
A good place to catch with friends. Enjoyed the food but it could have been better. They were out of some of their specials. The food took a long time to be served. We were sitting near the door and as the place started getting crowded they started to keep the doors open (covid protocol). Since a few of us didn't have jackets we were freezing (It was 0 degrees outside). They can either limit their capacity or place the tables differently. Otherwise the ambiance was good. Try their vegetarian combo, kategna and chocolate mousse.
