I came during Chinese Lunar New Year and Vietnamese Tet festivals. The temple is decorated beautifully. It also brought us a Vietnamese temple vibes atmosphere here where many people pays a visit to Budha temple in the beginning of a new year for good luck.
Many great Budha statues. They also offer vegetarian food in exchange for donations.
Duc Vien temple is nicest most beautifully decorated in San Jose imo. It’s the reason it’s always crowded on any special events.
This is the temple being held by the nuns and lots of dedicated volunteers. You’ll find beautiful court yard all around the temple.
The temple has many different activities throughout the years for different age groups.
It’s also home of the most wonderful retreat( age range as young as 4 years to teens)during a week in July and in January. If you have young children, I highly recommend to sign up for them. The temple only ask for donations or food supplies so that they can host all 3 meals for the kids during the retreat.
I son has learned so much each time he completed the retreat.
Each Sunday, the temple would serve healthy vegan lunch for everyone and the community.
During the Lunar New Year, you’ll find the temple turn into a colorful place filled of unique decorations, vegan foods and endless discovery here. Here are some examples. You would have to come and experience a piece of flavor like “ home” in Vietnam.
Duc Vien is such a beautiful Buddhist Pagoda. I came here on Vietnamese New Year and enjoyed all the decorations they put up. There are so many different Buddha images.
Tết new year 2018! Probably the biggest Buddhist temple in San Jose. Temple grounds are always well manicures and services are true and meaningful. All are welcome just please be respectful and follow the rules.
