I chose Rearend Specialties based on their excellent reviews, and from the first phone call, I understood why they’re so highly rated. The team was patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind. I brought in my 2017 Tacoma for a 4.88 gear install along with front and rear Eaton e-lockers. I supplied all the parts, and they handled the install.
We agreed on a four-day window to allow for flexibility, but they finished the job in just two and a half days. I followed their break-in procedure, and the truck has been running flawlessly ever since.
Their pricing was significantly more reasonable than other quotes I received in the East Bay, and the quality of work exceeded expectations. Having built 10 axles myself in the past, I appreciated their attention to detail, technical expertise, and professionalism throughout the process.
I can’t recommend these guys enough. Thank you!!
Adam at Rearend Specialties performed repair on my BMW 850 LSD rearend. He gave me a great price with a smile on my face! Pardon the Pun! This shop is my first choice, anything less is a compromise!
I recently brought my 2005 Ford Mustang into Adam and his team to build a race ready rear differential for the car (road course racing). More specifically, they installed a new set of Ford Performance 4.10 gears + an Eaton Trutrac, along with new carrier/pinion bearings and new axle bearings/seals. Adam took the time to understand my use case, and setup the diff to ensure longevity in a race stressed environment. I race other types of cars and do a lot of wrenching on my vehicles, and I could tell right away that Adam knows his stuff (we were discussing pinion backlash options). I will be bringing him more diffs to setup for my other race cars. Adam and the team kept me updated on progress, and spent time talking through the break-in procedures (yes folks, you can't just get in and hammer the car after you install a new diff). If you want a job done right by folks that know what they are doing, consider Rear End Specialties.
I strongly recommend Rearend Specialty for differential work. They installed my Land Rover front and rear final drive units done there: air locker in one unit and LSD in the other. Prices are reasonable and fast turnaround and top quality work. Anyone in South Bay looking for a shop to work on differentials and drive units… definitely give them a call.
Rearend Specialties is a great shop run by honest and kind people. I had my GM 8.2 10 bolt rebuilt about two years back. They were very communicative, met their deadlines, and informed me when they found issues (bent axle shafts). I sourced parts myself, and the team was happy to accommodate my requests.
The axle has performed nearly 20,000 miles without issue, but I did notice a bit of a whine developing on deceleration recently. I brought it back in for a check-up, and Mike was able to get it lifted up, re-torque my pinion nut, and ensure the proper pre-load while I waited. He did a quick inspection to ensure the axle was still in good shape, and sent me on my way without a bill.
There's nothing better than a communicative shop that stands by their work, and I thanks the guys at RES for taking care of me!
