After attending a Social Thinking conference, I now realize academic success is dependent on social thinking. To comprehend the deeper meaning of a story with reading a book, understanding the actions of the characters, and how others affect them. Some of my students have a more “literal” understanding of social cues; they tend to be better at informational text and weak in comprehending social literature. I now have an understanding of how social thinking affects my student’s social skills, perspective taking, self-awareness, social-emotional challenges, self-regulation, critical thinking, perspective taking, self-awareness,
I am a speech-language pathologist working in my private practice and at a private a school. Social Thinking has been an incredible addition to the services which I provide. I use the curricula in the classrooms, group and individual sessions. Parents, teachers and administrators rave about changes they see in the students- I have attended many workshops, conferences and the training at the ST Clinic and I can't say enough good things about all of these experiences. I highly recommend ST.
As a clinical social worker, I have been using Social Thinking curriculum and methodologies in my clinical practice for nearly 10 years, and this has literally revolutionized my work! My clients are children, teens, and adults of all ages who struggle with social communication challenges, including autism spectrum disorder. This approach is relevant, engaging, and easily adaptable to clients of varying needs. I have also attended multiple conferences over the years and always take away fresh, cutting-edge tools to use right away. If you work with clients who struggle with social relationships, these are strategies you need in your toolbox!
