Beautiful place for some natural beauty

Campbell Cove is definitely one of the top 5 on my favorite state park beach list. It's actually a part of the Bodega Bay shoreline, just opposite the mouth of the bay where it meets the Pacific. Because the cove is along the bay and not the ocean, it offers a safer place for children and dogs to play in the sand and water. During low tides there are a few neat caves and small secluded coves to explore. Unfortunately during high tides there is often very little beach that's accessible.

Unlike other beaches in the area, Campbell Cove is mostly sheltered from the coastal wind as it sits below the bluffs of Bodega Head, which block most offshore wind.

Campbell Cove has an unusually large parking lot constructed of pavers. The parking lot, vault toilet, and picnic area are all ADA compliant.

Adjacent to the parking lot is a neat little piece of history called "Hole in the Head," a proposed nuclear power plant which was abandoned in 1964. There's a wooden plank walkway that leads to a platform overlooking a pond and a couple informational signs explaining the history of the abandoned nuclear site.

Campbell Cove and surrounding bluffs are great places for bird watching and spotting wildlife. I've seen deer, raccoon, skunk, bobcat, snakes, lizards, owls, and a mountain lion.
