Very flavorful food! The chicken is very good quality. Tried the butter breast meat and the tikka masala thigh meat both were delicious. They are serious about spice levels here, even the medium is very spicy! The garlic Naan bread was great. The samosa was fresh and had a kick of spice to it. Loved the mango Lassi drink. Be sure to check your order before leaving as they forgot some of our items and we had to go back. Reasonably priced and some of the best Indian food in Turlock. Would recommend!
The decision to eat at Punjab Express is always a naan-brainer. It's Turlock's best kept secret and hands down the best Indian food in the area for miles. If you've never had the pleasure of trying Indian food before, make this spot your first choice.
This visit we had butter chicken and chicken tikka masala, both dishes come served with basmati rice. Also two orders of garlic naan bread. It is the freshest naan bread I've ever had, I'm willing to bet it's made daily in house.
The waitress was super impressive, memorized our order, then went to the next table immediately with a large family and memorized their order. Food came out super quick and it was hot (spicy and temperature) 🥵, but so so good.
Lastly the prices are super reasonable. It's like inflation skipped over this restaurant. My wife and I can eat here for $35 including tip and leave feeling the inflation in our waistlines not our wallets.
Cheers!
I think this is the best Indian restaurant in the area. Most places' samosas taste deep fried in old oil. Here, the crust is flaky and golden brown. Delicious.
They really do have delicious food. The pastry on the samosas was so flaky and not over fried. My favorite Indian restaurant in the area. Only complaint is both women working were on the phone when I came in and made no attempt to acknowledge me at all, and just kept on with their phone conversations. The older lady was nice after, the younger one was almost hostile. I guess she doesn't like white people. Oh well...
From the moment I stepped in the employee was very nice, she answered all of my questions, and had recommendations for someone who hasn't had Indian food before and was visiting from NV for a work training. I tried the chicken Tikka masala, naan bread and a few pastries that I'm not sure what they're called. The chicken dish was tasty, but the desserts were okay. Kind of too sweet for someone who doesn't like sweets a lot. Otherwise worth a visit at least to get a taste for Indian cuisine.
It seems to be pretty affordable. I purchased the pastries for about 4.99 and the chicken Tikka masala for about 10.00 plus the tip my order came to about 20 something dollars.
