Small but nice. They have a small aquarium with sea stars, mussles, fishes and a ranger explains everything to you. The gift shop is a bit small but staff is super friendly.
We stopped here to stamp our passport book. We originally went kayaking out at the islands in August and had since purchased our passport book. I'm glad we went back. There is an aquarium in the center of the bldg. I could sit there for hours watching the fish. There is also a lookout tower that you can see the islands from on a clear day. Very informative. PS Also has a small nature trail that you can walk on.
The staff is very helpful and the center is very well kept. They have a live fish tank that shows what the kelp forest is like. They also have a piggy mammoth display that explains their discovery on the islands. There is an exterior exhibit that shows the topography of each island with cool facts. You can also climb the tower to get awesome views of the surrounding area.
A very nice visitor center, a great place to get a taste of the channel islands. We we're able to get a junior ranger badge without having to visit the islands. The cost for a family of four is cost prohibitive. The only way to get to the islands is by a private company. We learned a lot about the islands and maybe someday we can visit the actual islands but for now it was fun to learn about them here.
Drew was awesome. As a school teacher, I have been to the Visitor Center several times over the course of many years. During our field trip there, drew kept the student highly engaged and motivated. They had a clear understanding of what to do while there and what to look for. I had an enjoyable time as well as all of my students. Thanks to the Channel Islands National Park Visitor Center for putting this together.
