Very nice park. The main attraction is the various birds attracted to the water; the main one being Bald Eagles. Could use more rest areas on the trail around the lake.

One of the best birding spots in the state and it happens to be right near Denver/Aurora. The rangers here are especially helpful and knowledgeable about the property. Make sure you walk down to the boardwalk and look out for the eagles' nest.
Barr Lake is a beautiful area, if a bit drab appearing in the winter.
I love to visit Barr Lake and watch the Bald Eagles fly and just chill in the trees. It's a fantastic location to take photos if your into photography and a great little nature walk if you enjoy just causal strolls in nature.
Be warned however that it is a State Park so you will need a pass if pay the 7$ day fee along with needing a Fishing license to fish.
- I recommend this to: Anyone who loves the outdoors and wants to walk, photograph, or just enjoy nature. I also recommend it to parents of small children who wish to introduce the kids to nature without overwhelming them.
- I would not recommend it to: Fisherman, every time I've tried this place I have got my stuff caught in the seaweed and never caught anything. (I was shore fishing however). Just about anyone when it's hot, as there is little shade so it's really hot and uncomfortable.
