I have studied with Garth Renyolds for a number of years now, and have had numerous teachers in the past. When I first began studying with Garth we were doing Bagua, but for the last year or so we have been doing Xinyi Liuhue. I appreciate Garth’s teaching, he is very thorough in his approach to the material he presents. He structures his classes for both beginning students just wanting to learn a martial art through advanced martial artists wanting to improve their skills. Beginning students come away with a basic knowledge of movements for improving health and increasing their internal strength, while advanced practitioners can learn new concepts and improve their skills. I highly recommend attending Garth’s class

I feel It's important I share this review as this is a very unique and exceptional art form that changed my life and I wish others would discover this great art as well. As it is very rare and not common in the USA.
I've been working with Garth for about 5 months now weekly and it has been an truly exceptional experience. My overall health has never been better. Especially my physical health. First, a little of my background.
Now, I don't consider myself a fighter. I grew up as the shy, frail nerd that was always picked on. So what I wanted was self preservation, minus the egos, belts, and servitude that came with most teachers. I love the sophistication and the self control that martial arts offers, not the glory. Basically I wanted something to help me become a better person. Not just a better Martial Artist, but just to be a better human over all, balance is what I needed, so to speak.
Lucky for me there was just what I needed in my home town. Xinyi Luihue Quan has changed my life. My martial arts journey started about 10 years ago when I was introduced to Bujikan Karate and Basic Self defense. 5 years ago I was introduced to Wing Chun as well as a variety of martial arts styles, mostly traditional Chinese styles. With this exposure I still felt like something was "missing" from these arts. Something that wasn't being translated properly from culture to culture. Eventually I was introduced to a concept called "Internal" martial arts and became fascinated with the idea that muscle is not our only power source in the human body. The idea that the body has a hidden ability.
After doing some intense research I learned that not all " Internal Arts" are alike and very few people in this world actually know this term, yet alone can fully explain it nor offer it to be taught. I also learned that internal arts is not some magic term. It has a lot scientific back ground and explanations that Garth can break down for you with his keen knowledge of the human anatomy. This helps greatly as some folks claim they do internal work but can't give the same results or explanations I've found with Garth and XYLH. The quality offered through Garth's teachings is world class. Garth is very patient and knowledgeable. He offers very easy instructions plus member's only online material that really helps you along your journeys. When I first started class I had a great deal of shoulder discomfort, mostly from my life style and other arts I was doing. I can now say that not only is my shoulders 100% better but they have new abilities that I never new where there! When I was a child I was diagnosed with PTSD and have always been kind of a nervous fellow. After my XYLH practices I can say I've made leaps and bounds with improvements to my PTSD. After these classes I truly feel I have more control of not just my nervous system but of me in a whole. That is a really great feeling that is irreplaceable and priceless.
After searching high and low for that "one" art that offers everything and more, I've finally found a home in Xinyi Luihue taught by Garth Reynolds. As I slowly understand and unravel all this great knowledge that I'm offered through Garth and XinyYi I can say there is so much to be explored and appreciated from this ancient and rare art. Hopefully this review will help others find the same " Internal" rabbit hole I did and get to enjoy its many life benefits it has to offer.

    Cheers!

I have been practicing with Garth Reynolds and Suzan Fleck for more than three years. Initially, Suzan was teaching the eight storing qi. About 18 or so months ago, Garth took over the class and started teaching the eight healing sounds. This past winter, he changed to teaching dao yin dragon exercises, which continue through the present.

I was in my late 60’s when I began practicing with Garth and Suzan. Having not exercised
most of my adult life, the sporadic exercise workouts that I did get, in the form of shoveling snow, raking leaves, hiking, and other fairly strenuous work, always resulted in sore muscles for a few days following the exercise. However, in the spring of last year, we had a big snowfall which required shoveling heavy snow for well over an hour. To my surprise and delight, I suffered no sore muscles at all. This has been the case since then.

I also have arthritis, which causes joint pain in various parts of my body. At times, climbing the stairs caused a lot of knee pain. Over the time that I’ve been practicing with Garth and Suzan, this arthritic pain has eased immensely. My knees still crack regularly, and hurt a bit sometime, but nothing like they did several years ago. Also, a year ago I had a thumb and finger which had trigger finger injuries – that is, when bent, they wouldn’t straighten out without a snap. Since then, both fingers are now normal. Although I can’t say for certain that it was the exercises that I did with Garth that corrected them, there’s nothing else to which I can attribute the cure.

The dao yin exercises that Garth has been teaching have increased my balance and strength. For people my age, poor balance is often a precursor to serious injury due to falls.

Garth and Suzan are patient, knowledgeable, and very helpful in their teaching, both for beginners and for more advanced students. I very much appreciate their generosity in sharing these exercises which can be of benefit to so many people.
