Loved, since 1990. Must see!
First time coming to Castlewood Canyon State Park (either entrance) and I really enjoyed it! The trails were nicely done with relatively smooth paths. The paths were also CLEAN! Dog’s are allowed so that’s great. The trails close at sunset so times vary throughout the year.
Two things to note:
1. there are benches for sitting but not trash cans (while on the trail) for dog poop. So you’d have to carry the poop with you.
2. You do need to pay for parking. Not bad but something to know.
My go to for hiking with my dogs
Love this park! Easy hikes, lots of wildlife and the Canyon is exceptionally beautiful!
Castlewood Canyon State Park is a beautiful day use park near Denver. It is by Franktown, Colorado. It has great hiking trails, some of which, as the name implies, follow a canyon made by Cherry Creek. The visitor center has lots of information, including hiking trail maps. There are two entrances to the park, one south of Franktown on Highway 83, and one east of Franktown on Highway 86.
