Royal Gorge Anglers

A great fly shop with knowledgeable staff. They got rid of their ability to sell fishing licenses which I do understand costs them a few bucks to offer. However I have to say I believe this is a cost of doing business expense for a fly shop.

I will start by saying I’ve been fly fishing for 40 years and have lived in most the western states, fishing multitudes of rivers in all of them . I’ve been to many shops that are too busy to help you, to pretentious, or only give out the standard tourist fly fishing info. This is not one of those shops. That being said I recently moved to Cañon City area and I have to say the staff at Royal Gorge Anglers is top notch. They’re all incredibly knowledgeable of the local rivers and lakes , and are quick to help you out with fly selections and honest appraisals of any of latest and greatest gear.

Did some guided flyfishing with Evan Bentley of Royal Gorge Anglers. We had a fantastic day. Evan is skilled, knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely helpful. It was a pleasure.

We found every one of the guys in the shop so helpful. We’re just starting out on our fly fishing journey and couldn’t be more pleased with all the help offered to us. We spent a day on the river with Paul and his expertise was amazing. Loved it so much we’re going to do it again! Thank you!!

Bill and Trevor have made a huge difference in my fly fishing. With their very generous help and advice I am finally having some success catching trout on flies on the Arkansas River. I have been at this for six or seven years in California and here in CO, with no success, after a lifetime of bait fishing for trout in CA and New York. Beginners will find an extremely knowledgeable and welcoming group at Royal Gorge Anglers. No Fly Fishing Elitism (What! You haven't fished in Argentina, New Zealand?) just friendly, expert advice and great fly fishing gear at reasonable prices. Thanks Guys!
