She tailored each session to his mood and his interests and had many helpful suggestions and activities for ways to practice on our own. She is patient and kind and our son looked forward to each weekly session...pretty much asking every day if his "teacher" was coming. :) Thanks so much for all of your help!

(August 10, 2016, 6:28 pm)Ms. Maria was the best Speech-Language teacher my 7 year-old has had. And he has had 2 good ones before. She was calm, patient, professional, and redirected him kindly & firmly. The setting itself had white walls and was not distracting. My son connected with her right away. Ms. Maria listened to what Dylan had to say to her, probably doing Speech-Language assessment & training along way. She answered any questions, shared how he did & explained the sounds he had difficulty with, so we could help him at home. She engaged the whole family and we all liked her very much.She used a variety of tools like the little mirror screen where could see how he formed his letters. She tuned into his competitive nature and used a speech training board game.She was very playful sometimes and made it fun for him. She rewarded him with using the i-pod sometimes as well as a lot of praise. It was obvious Ms. Maria loves children. She is a wonderful Speech-Language teacher and person.
We plan on going back to her next summer.
