I did not visit in person, only Web cam.
Just wonderful experience, being able to watch these two mated eagles, Mr President and The First Lady! This year, (2018) is the third season we've been able to view them and their babies. This is a great website and the cam operators do a terrific job. There is a daily chat (except for Sundays) during "eagle" season so you can ask the moderators questions and learn all sorts of things. This is a "must see" nest located in Washington DC in a Tulip Poplar tree in the National Arboretum. Two eggs laid the end of March are about to hatch sometime around the first of May. Don't miss it!
I watched this nest and the new eaglets last year, and it was wonderful. Fascinating to watch the adults share care and feeding of the offspring, and watching the eaglets learn how to fly brought tears to my eyes. Highly recommend.
I looked up and saw the nest in December 2017. No eagles are there, but I knew what it was immediately. When I was a kid in the 80’s, I was obsessed with Bald Eagles and I was never able to see them, in the wild. They almost became extinct, but thanks to conservation and environmental efforts eagles have come back and I have randomly spotted them flying in the DC area. It’s always a thrill. I’m coming back this spring and I’m bringing my binocolars
