I had been looking for someone to help my son with his anxiety and everyone my pediatrician had referred me to have a 9mth wait or astronomical fees. I felt helpless. Another mom at my son's school asked if I had heard of Mya who does OT in the woods. She said she is a "unicorn!" We are a huge nature loving family, and this spoke to me as I find nature to be very healing all on its own. My son would spend an hour with Mya in the woods trying "new" games and activities that kept him intrigued and curious. He always was excited to go and see her. I have noticed a huge difference in his confidence, and he has a toolbox full of tools he can use when he feels his anxiety creeping in. We will continue to use Mya in the future for extra support. She really is a "unicorn!"

Our son loves all the sessions with Mya. She was great with the kids - kind, patient, nurturing, and also with sharing feedback after each session to review activities and things parents can do and say. We love that her practice is nature-based too.

We love Mya and her nature-based approach to therapy. She is endlessly attentive, gentle, kind and encouraging with our four year old. We've only been working with her for a couple months but have seen improvements in his behavior (and ours for that matter!) and feel like she's putting us all on a great path.

I highly recommend Mya Zavaleta's occupational therapy services. Our child has made great progress with coordination, confidence and independence. Ms. Mya has an extraordinary calming and positive energy that encourages my child to do their best. Ms. Mya always makes every session really fun, and she helps children explore and understand boundaries by using adventures in nature. She says "The experience of having a weekly nature practice helps young people feel more in touch with their place in the world and a connection to something greater than themselves. When kids have OT services outdoors, they become more connected, improve coordination and concentration, and can self-regulate better."

Rooted has had such a positive impact on my daughter. I can’t recommend Mya enough. Her nature therapy platform is dynamic and unique. She has helped my daughter with chronic stress (tummy aches and headaches), with core strength, gross and fine motor skills, and so much more. She is also incredibly attentive and makes an effort to personalize the experience depending on the child’s needs. She’s responsive, informative, and supportive. I’m so grateful I found this amazing program.
