Though my mother was connected with Dr. Velasquez because he happened to be on call, he took outstanding care of her. He is an expert in his field and treated my mother with compassion and confidence. He has excellent bedside manor and took time to clearly explain everything to her while advising her of all options and risks. Being a physician myself, feeling helpless being miles away, I can honestly say that I could not have taken better care of her myself. Knowing she was in his care put me at ease. He communicated with me multiple times and I agreed fully with every step in his management plan. I have never met him but know that we are very lucky he was available when my mother needed him. “I have been going to Dr. Calabrese for many years. I absolutely love her. I feel like she is generally concerned with my issues and tries to find answers. I have never found her to be a pill pusher at all in my opinion she's the complete opposite. Now that she is with University things are even better. “Kurt has a memory that is scary. It took me four 50 minute sessions just to give my background to him that caused my diagnoses. In the weeks afterwards, he had name recall of all six of my others. I have problems remembering them. There are appointments where I just need to unload but we always discuss homework I can do in between appointments. He’s not afraid to tell you what he things or stopping you mid-sentence and day I’m going down a rabbit hole to keep me focused on the issue we are discussing. Other therapists have only asked me questions to see if intellectually I could determine what the problem was and maybe 30 years ago, that may have worked. But he doesn’t waste the time. He’s more likely to tell you his thoughts and let you react, mostly he is dead in, every now and then, what he asked me to do seems impossible but there are very few if anytime when he was wrong. He’s pretty busy so good luck if you get into his clients.”
