I come to this location regularly, I always get the Turkey and sausage platter with Mac N Cheese and Corn Nuggets.
And I must point out that I only get a 30 minute lunch break and I am always in and out in just under 25 minutes, and the service is still 5 star quality and they serve up good quality food. If you are looking for great food and service and you only have very little time for lunch, I strongly recommend that you vidit this Bono's Location, they will not let you down.
I have never had a single problem and will be back soon.
We always like to visit this particular Bono's as the food always seems to be on point!! A little understaffed during our visit, but our waitresses phenomenal character more than made up for it. All the food we got was fresh and hot!! Exactly as we ordered it. Chicken was juicy, ribs were tender brisket charred perfectly. Dirty rice could be less sweet.. Kudos to this location!! To boot, a very nice tree service owner named Juston took care of our bill without telling us too!! It's okay, we paid it forward to our hardworking waitress, unbeknownst to her :)
Southern BBQ pork is a favorite meal. I have it on a solid recommendation that Bono's is the best place to eat a meal with this meat in Jacksonville.
I do not live in Jacksonville so I have not tried other places. I have now eaten at two of their restaurants and the results have been very good.
On the latest visit, I had a salad with BBQ on top. The salad was fresh, the lettuce was fresh and the pork had excellent flavor. The pork was a little less moist than I prefer. Another person in our party ordered the BBQ pork plate and it was more moist. No idea why the difference, probably just from a different roast.
The salad had fresh, light green lettuce that was very crisp. The cucumbers were fresh. My salad came with a boiled egg for an extra charge and it sounded good for including it on a salad.
There are a variety of sauces to put on the pork. I went for one that was described as sweet. It was and I liked it very much.
The restaurant has a pleasant, informal ambiance. There are not many places where there is a large alligator on the wall. This one appeared to be stuffed and near the entrance. (See the photo of the alligator below.)
There is a large pit in the restaurant where patrons can see the meat cooking. It is a nice touch and creates an impression this is a good place to eat as the meat is cooked there and it is always fresh.
The food was full of flavor, the service was good and atmosphere provided a pleasant place for a lunch. The large American flag on the wall adds to the patriotic atmosphere and seems perfect in a Southern BBQ restaurant!
