(March 4, 2020, 8:31 am)Wow, wow, wow, Florida! Why have you been hiding this gem. Wonderfully secluded and remote in Jacksonville! Cumbersome forests and bogs, I truly feel as if I were De Soto discovering a new, untamed land. How the heck did they taverse this swampy, muddy, landscape? This preserve brings me to a place where only my imagination and De Soto's writing have brought me before. Some trails are impassable with swamp and I highly recommend taking utmost precaution. Beginners be prepared!
(June 24, 2016, 2:02 am)This place is good fun. Nice and quiet. For some reason there is NEVER anyone here. I've been kayaking here twice and it's been a blast ever since.
The waters are always calm and VERY few motorized boats.
Be sure to check the tides before coming out.
