Parking is two dollars for the day, there’s a good amount of parking
Lots of trails, with varying elevation
I really liked the location and the lack of people on the trails
Dog, friendly, there’s a dog station with poop bags
And there’s also lots of pavilions
This park is known for their biking trails. Located off Morris Bridge Road, you can access the Biking trail that spans for several miles. There’s also a place or fish off the boardwalk. This also contains views of the Hillsborough River.
For hikers, this is a spot that has views of the power lines and lake. The only thing good to see was the massive lake; and that’s about it. Otherwise, the trails are not well-marked and the maps at the entrance don’t help at all. However, this place is alright if you want to immerse yourself in nature. Overall, don’t recommend.
Pro tip, left is bike trail, right is hiking trails 😄 we accidentally went left, but still enjoyed the bike trail There are def ticks present, so do NOT wander into grass and check yourself and your pets. The boardwalk is short, but nice. You can watch a number of alligators swimming and floating by which I loved. Dogs can't go on boardwalk, but trails are fine. Small boat and kayak launch. well maintained. Bathroom was spotless.
Love Trout Creek. Our first time here we caught two bowfin and had steady activity. We spent about 3-4 hours here and it is a huge area. The second time here we caught one bass, and had several bowfin hits but none set. Seen quite a few gar fish as well. Canoe/kayak launch only, biking, hiking, walking, dock fishing, covered picnic tables.
Beautiful beautiful hidden gem. The trails are so nice. Find Bayshore trail it goes around a lake. Keep eyes open trail can have stumps and of course wildlife. I’ve seen rabbits, deer, turtles and armadillos. Wish it was marked better. But ranger told me if you stay on trails at Trout Creek you won’t get lost. Across the street at the other park you can get very lost. I take my dog and walk through the trails only. But they have bicyclists and watch for them. Everyone is always nice. Really all our wilderness parks are beautiful. Check out Lettuce Lake down the street on Fletcher. Enjoy and please don’t liter. I always pick up any trash on my hike.
