Very nice natural Florida State Park. The section I visited has good hiking trails and backcountry camping. Felt like hiking in undeveloped old Florida. Beautiful weather and temperature today; probably will be hotter in the summer.
This is a great nature trail with lots of different terrains and areas where you feel completely away from the modern world. Make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks if you plan to hike the whole 6.2 mile trail and expect it to take about 3 hours or so with a moderate pace. There are a few areas that are a bit rough, so be prepared and wear hiking boots or shoes. Follow the yellow trail markers and enjoy.
This is one of the better trails I've walked in Central Florida. The walk along the Manatee River was the most scenic part. It's true that some of the wood structures need to be repaired, but that is only the short boardwalk going to the loop. The back end of the loop was a little more muddy than I expected for this time of year. Overall, it was a nice hike. I'll come back with my family next time.
Beautiful spot to hike! The trails were well marked. There was lots of foliage, it felt like walking in a jungle. There are two loops, fairly flat, that connect each around 3 miles. It is $5 per car to park. Pet friendly too!
