The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature

Pretty decent museum. I liked how the planetarium was free after admission. They have a first responder discount! We went and saw a nice movie about satellites in the planetarium. The first floor has some dinosaurs 🦖 🦕 sharks and other things. It has a nature play area for kids. The bathrooms were clean. Then we went outside to the manatee area. Took some pictures and saw some amazing pvc pipes. Once we were done we went to the Hispanic house. It was very nice. Then upstairs we went. I got out and saw some nice things. They had old shells and stones. Old medicines. Stem for girls. I think that it's good for all ages. Elevator works well. Free parking garage close to here and police station.

Educational Opportunities for local history and of course the Manatees!!! They have rescued manatees that are temporarily staying with them until they can be rereleased! There is a planetarium with show’s playing about every hour (get there 10 minutes prior because the theater fills up quickly) and an early learning garden for children! Calm and friendly atmosphere with helpful staff! Loved my visit! Parking was free and easy!

The planetarium is something to see. Each of the shows are magnificent and very educational. At present they have two young Manatee calves that are a pleasure to watch. Overall, the museum is a great place to visit to explore the depths of Florida history. Loads of great exhibits.

The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature is filled with things to do - there is a Manatee Habitat, Planetarium, Mosaic Backyard Universe, Exhibitions on the first and second floor, and much more! The Bishop participates in several discount programs so I highly recommend visiting their site to find out how you can save during your visit.

Upon arrival we were greeted and given a map and schedule of events. Our visit was about 2 hours long. You are allowed to leave and re-enter during your visit (which I thought was pretty cool). We will definitely return some time in the near future.

We are soo happy that we chose this venue for our wedding!! It was truly magical. We didn’t need a lot of decor because the courtyard is already beautiful as it is. Love love love those hanging lights, it definitely gave the whole day a more romantic feel! Adam the museum’s business development coordinator was so very responsive to all our emails and on top of managing everything as far as the table rentals and everything.. we were truly lucky to have him helping with everything around the venue. 1000% recommend this budget friendly gorgeous venue for your wedding!!
