First visit. New England clam chowder was awesome. Smaller portions than other places we have been. The fish was extremely fresh and delightful. Husband had platter, all great (shrimp, crab cake, scallops, grouper). I had fish and chips. What I liked the best was batter was not heavy and oily, nice and light on everything.
Guy was singing with guitar...was nice background music, not too loud.
We had just landed in Sarasota and needed to eat. Captain Brian's was suggested by Google, and I'm so glad we went!
I had the seafood combo platter with a crabcake and blackened grouper, shrimp and scallops. It was all fantastic. The sautéed spinach and crispy potato wedges were great. Somehow I managed to fit in a little bit of key lime pie, too. Yum!
We were inside only briefly, snagging a table outside. Our interactions with four staff members were positive. Dorothy was our primary server, and she was excellent. It was lovely to see how the staff worked as a team.
My partner has a sensitivity to fish, which the kitchen accommodated by grilling his chicken away from fish. He devoured his sandwich and his salad, declaring it all delicious. We both remarked on how fresh everything was.
Extremely good seafood. Some of the best Calamari ever. Prices are comparable to portion sizes. Tried the combo platter, all was good but small portions. The staff was very friendly. Dining area was clean. There is a market area on one side, seafood price we competitive. Not the place to impress guests, but a good restaurant for a family, friends meal.
Had a great experience from start to finish the staff are very attentive and informative of all the menu so feel free to ask questions. I had the monkfish breadcrumb battered and sauteed in the garlic butter lemon with capers it was perfect. For sides I had a side salad and coleslaw very good. The menu has it all for seafood but they were out of stone crab I really wanted some and they also have huge live Maine lobster available or clams oysters swordfish etc... They also have a fish market with great offerings like smoked fish and dips to take home. GREAT PLACE! 2nd visit three pound lobster fresh from Maine absolutely amazing!
Fresh fish! Salmon cooked correctly! Great prices. Great selection. Very old crowd. Went there for fried flounder but online menu did not match actual menu. Left happy anyway.
