A little over 2 years ago, we found our boy Will. He had some big shows to fill since our hearts were still hurting from losing our dog. But Will was perfect. He’s a graduate of the FIDO project. If you don’t know what that is look it up! He’s so well behaved and so loving. And he LOVES other dogs! A little over a month ago, we contacted Wendy and her team because Will wanted a playmate. They immediately recommended Darlene (who we now call Grace - how could we not). They knew they would be a perfect match because they knew both personalities. Of the thousands of dogs they have known in 2 years and the hundreds of dogs they care for each day, they matched these two together and I was love at first sight. We thought it would be a few months before they were snuggling but it’s only been a few weeks and they now hate being apart. We recommend MCAS and the FIDO project daily.
Fantastic Experience. We started our journey this morning in lake county, and didn't have the best experience. The staff in lake county were not pleasant at all. I got back home and started looking around on line more, finally landed on Marion County's page and they had a pretty "nice selection" of dogs. Initially I was looking for an older dog, but when i got to the shelter i came across a 3 month old lab. I wasn't sure that was the route i wanted to go 100% yet so i kept looking at all the other dogs. Finally decided it was time to at least take a peak at her outside of the kennel. Immediately fell in love with her, and adopted her. The staff at Marion county Animal Center are amazing. They are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. If one of them isn't sure exactly about the dog, they will find someone that knows more. I highly recommend this Place, and will absolutely return another time. They care about the animals and take very good care of them from what I can tell. Thank you Marion County for running such a fantastic Facility, with great staff.
Adopted a mixed breed pup approx 1 1/2 yrs old. Very sweet, took him to Vet (got free 1st exam) had t get antibiotics for upper resp. Hes all better now gets along great with our other fur babies.
I lost my old boy ???? a few months ago.Long story short.( You wouldn't believe me if I told you the long story). I went to the shelter and adopted a beautiful 1 eyed 7 month old Russian Blue cat. She had a horrible start in life. I'm surprised at how gentle she is. I really love her and I'm so thankful they didn't put her to sleep. Please , if you can and you have the time and patience and the finances to give some poor animal a loving home - go to the shelter , I'm really happy I did .!!!!????
I'm so happy that I ignored the bad reviews on google and still went to this shelter. It was by far the nicest shelter we visited. We have been to many in the past couple weeks looking for a cat to adopt. This place made sure we were being helped, while also the employees were very nice and polite. The place was clean and organized as well. I highly suggest going here to adopt your next family member.
We ended up adopting a cat here, and she is absolutely the sweetest. It was a nice adoption process and we didn't feel like they were questioning our ability to care for her in anyway. The other places wouldn't even help us, much less if they cannot get a hold of one of your references, you're out of the picture. Mittens now has a forever loving home, and we couldn't be happier! Thank you Marion County Animal Center!
