Not much here but that's why we go. Climb a tree, pet a cow, or take a nap. Look out for the wild plants.
The road is not clearly marked but there are two horse crossing signs on Highway 714. Turn to the north here and you will see a sign set back from the main road. There were 4 locks on the chain to the gate so I had to find the correct padlock and dial in the code. Once in I spotted free roaming cows! That was a surprise. Follow the gravel/shell road 2.5 to 3 miles and it dead ends at the campsite. You must park your car and walk through a gate to get to the tent sites. Older fire pits with grates are scattered about and some tables are there. There is a shooting range nearby and gunfire can be heard during the day. It is a pretty spot
Remote and primitive campsite, well-shaded and spacious. Popular during hunting season, but off- season you will probably have this to yourself. No electric, no water, and no bathrooms. Free but requires registration with South Florida Water Management District.
It has a nice little clear pond that's as big as an above ground pool. If you sit still, you can watch the turtles swimming underwater. There was a little gar in there when we were there
Great spot. About a 3 mile walk.
