(May 21, 2021, 9:51 am)I first discovered Ray's Nursery in 1999, just as I was completing my new waterfront home in Islamorada, in the Upper Florida Keys. A recent retiree from New York City, I knew nothing about fruit trees in South Florida,...just that I wanted a mango tree,.... my first. The head lady turned me over to her expert, Armando, a recent transfer from Cuba.
When I told Armando I wanted my very first mango tree to plant near my new home in the nearby Florida Keys, he hesitated briefly and then confidently said " You want a Glenn ! "
Had that tree for 25 years and never tasted a better mango,,..made loads of friends by giving them a bag of 4, 5 ripe Glenn's every June/July. After awhile there was just no way I ( a bachelor ) could eat all the mango's that magnificent tree produced.
I cannot recommend Ray's Nursery enough ! -
