Pretty good school. I have to agree with most people though. The people there are very rude, there's always some kind of puddle in the boy's bathroom, there's *cough*drug problems*cough*, but pretty much it's an okay school.
I went to Palmetto shortly after it opened, from 1960-62. I got an outstanding education there, with courses based on the latest teaching models, like PSSC Physics and audio-lingual Spanish. I think Palmetto was a better school than the much-touted suburban Long Island school I transferred from. Kudos to the principal then (Clyde Crabtree), my chemistry teacher (Mr. Stormont), my Spanish teacher (Ms. Collins) and all the rest of the fine faculty.
I graduated in 1974. The school was great! Chorus Class was The place to meet girls, but I was so shy that I missed out on a lot. Guys, you have to treat women with respect! Panthers Rule!!!
We are so fortunate to have such a great school offering 27 AP courses, an iPrep Academy and the new Cambridge Magnet program all under one roof! The Principal is doing an outstanding job and she has a loyal and well-managed administration. Anyone looking for the best comprehensive high school in Miami should look at Palmetto!
This is the best comprehensive high school in Miami-Dade County. 2800 students, most of whom are high-achieving and goal-oriented, are challenged by dozens of AP courses, nationally-ranked clubs and academic teams, great school spirit and outstanding faculty. $29 million dollars has been allotted to build MPSH a new building starting in 2015, so that the facilities can be as awesome as the education the school offers.
