Every community needs a studio like this. Lisa is at once a consummate pro and an open hearted yogi. Made me feel like part of the family the day I walked in and encouraged me to challenge my body and soul with strength and ease.
Community Yoga + Wellness is based in Florida, but it is available to anyone willing to use Zoom, via the variety of classes offered online. The owner, Lisa Waas, is an exceptionally qualified teacher. She offers fun, challenging classes. For those of us with conditions or limitations or the usual accumulation of injuries, there are also several therapeutic-style courses - for example, Healing Back, Healing Knee - as well as Gentle and Healthy Aging classes. If you are interested but have never tried yoga before, watch for Lisa’s Beginner series, offered periodically. There’s something for everyone!
The yoga experience at this studio is fabulous- Lisa has such a vast knowledge and expertise of the moves and body that she teaches to us every class. We learn how each pose helps us and why we do it along with getting our energy healthy. She is the most loving and helpful instructor- and we laugh and have fun!
This review pertains to Lisa's classes. I have been attending now for several years. In that time I have developed improved balance, better focus, greater body awareness and enough understanding of my body to develop adjustments that help with the occasional 'curve balls' thrown at me by my aging. I have been helped enormously with better knee health and increased flexibility in my shoulders. I have found this practice is much more palatable than physical therapy and for me, possibly more beneficial. I find Lisa to be the most knowledgeable yoga practitioner I have ever known, as well as being kind, patient, committed, compassionate and humorous. (I had been doing yoga for 15 years before coming to Community yoga) I like the wisdom behind the Iyengar method she follows and feel very safe under her direction. She always knows a way to suggest adjustments that reduce any occasional encounters with discomfort. The studio offers a fantastic array of classes that are accessible for all levels of ability. I completely recommend this studio.
I am so thankful I found the Community Yoga & Wellness Studio. I started with the healing back and knee classes and continued with gentle yoga classes after a knee replacement. Lisa is amazing! She pushes me out of my comfort zone and is constantly monitoring to suggest adjustments so I don’t hurt anything. I feel so much stronger and move better than I have in several years. Classes are safe, fun and have helped reduce my knee, back and hip pain. I always walk out feeling great!
