  I have Parkinson’s and I had become virtually bed-ridden. I have a cute, comfortable apartment in an assisted living facility. Unfortunately, I received a 45-day warning that I would have to go to a nursing home because of how much help I required, unless there were major changes in my autonomy. Shortly afterwards, I was put in the hospital for an infection. When the case manager came to talk to me about where I intended to go when I was released, I told her I really needed therapy. She gave me a list of Rehab Centers with four highlighted.
  I called two of the four and they had no beds available. The third place I called was Hamlin Place and I was accepted for intense physical therapy to improve my mobility. I immediately felt comfortable here. The first night I stayed in a room with no WiFi signal and I asked for a new room. I was moved the next morning to the hallway with the strongest signal.
  The CNAs are hard working and pleasant, and when given a compliment, they beam with pleasure. The nurses learn our names and medications quickly. They know when you must have particular medications to improve your functionality. The food is good and there is quite a variety, from quiche to matzo ball soup and the dining room is very much like a nice restaurant. The chef comes out and helps serve and chats with everyone. The dietitian comes by our rooms frequently to make sure we are having our individual diet needs met. She also has a wonderful personality.
  The administrative staff are friendly and helpful, but always professional. They will explain anything you might not understand. The activities department tries very hard to offer something for everyone and their calendar is packed with games, crafts, music, and religious services for various faiths. The many departments wear different colored uniforms, helping the people determine whom they should go to with a question. The housekeeping staff is in constant motion, dusting, sweeping, and mopping throughout the building. I must say in an exceptional facility, the most excellent in my opinion, is the stellar Therapy department. They had me up and walking, albeit maybe ten feet, on my first day there. Today, I made three rounds in the large therapy gym. They are working on my legs, arms, core, gait, and balance. I have never found it to be malodorous, despite a previous review. I say to those trying to get stronger and to have better mobility and coordination, Hamlin Place is the answer.
