Me and my boyfriend had such an amazing time here last year and we cannot wait to go this year! It is truly a winter wonderland. The tubing was amazing so much higher than I thought, the ice skating rink was huge and so fun and the igloo was super cool. Super friendly staff as well. I highly recommend!!
Overall the place was overall fun to visit. It's the only snowy like place I know of in the area, but anyone from the north (colder environment) may not enjoy it as much. It was a cute place and had a fair amount of things to do for an afternoon.
A couple unfortunate negative notes- Since this is a seasonal location they didn't appear to have the best staff. The people working the food trucks didn't seem to care much or have any interest in answering questions regarding food allergies. When we did the inner tubing a couple staff members were having a grand time, smiling and enjoying being outside. Others were a bit rough and kinda seemed like they hated their job. When we went ice skating, I did fall a couple times. An employee saw me and asked if I was okay or needed any help. That was nice of them to ask and appreciated. After skating for a while I stepped off the ice to rest. Someone in our party wanted to do 1 more lap. She did and on her way around an employee yelled at her sating she had to get off the ice cause the zamboni was coming around. There was zero warning it was just "Get off the ice!" It made her fall and messed up her wrist and hip. Put a real damper on what was a pretty good afternoon. Would strongly encourage a note to provide a heads up for skaters "in 5 mins", or "last lap", or something would have been a much better option.
Later when I was returning my skates at the end of the day there were 6 of us trying to get our shoes back by returning our skates. There were 2 employees around the corner at another counter but they didn't seem to want to help us. Finally the 1 person running back and forth helping us snapped at the other 2 and said she needed help. They came to help finally but they also seemed like they didn't care much about being helpful.
Overall an okay place to visit once. Probably would not visit again. Be ready for a variety of personalities.
Last December my daughter and I stopped in at Snowcat Ridge to enjoy being in the snow. It is only 30 minutes west of Tampa. We used to live in Washington State where we were avid skiers and have missed playing in the snow! It is awesome that Florida has a fun place for Floridians to enjoy it also. They offer fun downhill snow tubeing as well as the Artic Igloo, where kids and adults can build snowmen and participate in other snow activities. Better bring gloves, jackets, and boots/sneakers along with you. It gets cold in there as well as on the slope. They are open all day. In the evening, magical lights are turned on while you are tubing or walking around. Did I mention that you can watch the sunset while tubing?
Snowcat Ridge features real snow in its snow dome and on its snow tubing hill. The park uses a snow-making system to produce real snow from water.
We bought our tickets online to save some money and time. My daughter paid for the VIP pass $160 to skip the long lines for tubing and to get a discount for parking. That pays for a 2 hour run. It takes about 15 seconds to slide down the hill. There is a moving platform that pulls you back up to the top or you can drag your tube up by yourself but it is on the heavy side. There are tubes for singles, doubles or family of 6. While online, you can pick your preferred time to tube. She picked 5:00-7:00 pm to watch the sunset and enjoy the lights. For the parents, there is plenty of seating so you can watch your kids snowtube. That's where I sat also, lol. I loved watching her be a kid and she was having a ball!
There is a gift shop, the Artic Igloo where there is story telling for kids, places to sit, photo ops, a bubble machine, and a place for snow fights.. A food truck offers nachos, burgers, hot dogs and sodas. There is plenty to see and do if you can't snowtube. It's a fun day for everyone.
The Alpine Village features a variety of outlets offering food, drinks, beer, wine, and shopping.
Kids under are 2 are free. All box office tickets are $6 more than online. Check their web page for more details.
We had a great time and would go again!
It was definitely an experience! It was very pricey in my opinion, I spent approximately $250 for one adult and two children over 2 years old. That was general admission with two meal tickets & general parking on a weekday. Strongly recommend to purchase meal tickets when you buy admission tickets, also recommend bringing your own water bottle, there is a refill station there. Bringing cash is unnecessary because they don't take it, If only have cash you will need to get a gift card to purchase things on there lot. Hope this helps. It was a ton of fun. Can't wait to do it again next year.
Fun place, lots to keep you busy. A little pricey but worth going our first time. Staff was helpful and it wasn't too crowded which was perfect. Ice skating rink is very nice. Perfect for the little ones too. The tubing hills were fun! Just high and fast enough. The family tube is fast and a little bumpy but so much fun. Loved the indoor igloo. Was fun making and throwing snowballs and they have a small tube hill for the little ones. It was a good day.
