Westlake Christian School

I'm not one to make assumptions or jump to conclusions so when the principal left, I got involved...very involved. I served on the parent board, volunteered in the classroom, lunch room, media center, chapel. You name it & I was in it up to my ears & I discovered that this is a solid school that continues to grow. The staff is well picked & well placed. New classes are being added regularly especially for the middle school-environmental engineering, Microsoft certifications, math. The literature curriculum is unmatched! This coming school year 2 grades are adding an additional classroom full of students, still leaving a waiting list. There is no gifted program here because all of the students are above & beyond for this area. The academics are strong and so is the character building & spiritual growth. There is accountability, progress review, curriculum review at all levels. Perfect? No way but there is definitely a short term AND a long term plan for this amazingly friendly school community. Is it the right fit for you? Only a tour & lots of questions can answer that. Too assume something happened for a certain reason without fact checking doesn't do you any service. Come see for yourself.

I was in the middle of looking up the school to see the menu and I noticed that they had a recent 1 star review. It prompted me to share my experience with the school. We have actually only been at Westlake for 1 year, so other than the most recent review, we cannot speak to their point of view.

We have been extremely happy with Westlake for the 2014-2015 school year.It exceeded our expectations. In fact, Westlake is the primary reason we will not likely leave the area. I don't think we could find a better school. We know a child that was actually in the kindergarten class referenced below and they were actually very pleased with the outcome. The teacher that left was immediately replaced and they felt that the classroom environment improved immediately after she left.

In regards to teacher turnover, I don't know what the turnover is here compared to other schools. If it is higher at Westlake, I don't believe it is a bad thing. We have noticed that in other school systems mediocrity, poor performance and even reports of abuse from teachers go unaddressed and is tolerated. Certainly, do your research before putting your child in ANY school to be sure you are confident your child is in the best situation possible.
