Small museum of Fort Meade. Quick tour, but worth the look.
Very interesting little place. Local history in photos and displays. The volunteers share the historical stories in a fun and interesting way. My grandkids had a wonderful time and learned a few things as well.
Fort Meade Historical Society is the oldest small town in interior SW Florida and if you like history this is worth a look see. Not very big, packed with historical artifacts. Give it a try, you'll be glad you did!
This is a most remarkable museum. It is housed in the town's antique schoolhouse. Inside are so many items donated by people of the town. Almost everything has an explanation tag attached to it. If you still have questions after viewing things there are ladies that live in Ft. Mead to answer them. There are things from vintage homemakers items to schoolhouse items to vintage clothing to actual newspapers of the town's history. Very nice.
There are also items outside the museum to see. We had a personal tour of the vintage train cars on site too.
We were also in invited to the town's Mayday maypole celebration. It is to be performed by the schoolchildren of Ft. Mead. It is May 1, beginning somewhere around 8:30 AM.🙂
My sister and I visited here, there is a lot to learn we hope to go back again because we haven't been on the second floor. I know there will be so much more to learn. I recommend this for anyone at any age
