The name was honestly what finally drew us in, after countless times of seeing the sign while driving by. We enjoyed the service that Kelly provided us quite a lot, and she told us a bit about the history of the restaurant. Everything we ordered was super tasty, which was the hungry man pizza, chicken marsala, and tiramisu. A nice side detail I really like is how they have plants lining the entire fence and walkway leading up to the entrance. Will be coming back for that tiramisu again for sure.
Some of the best NY style pizza in the area! Crust was thin, tender, crispy, and not overcooked. Toppings were plentiful. Service was excellent! We will be back to try the many other Italian dishes they offer! What a gem we found!
All we had was a lowly pizza, and WOW! were we impressed 😋. That Hungry Man pizza was full of flavor with just the right amount of toppings. And the crust made it even better 🙌. It had a wonderful "tooth". I've had so many pizzas where I felt like I was chewing leather, this was a pleasant surprise. Can't wait to return to experience the other epicurean delights listed on their menu!
Wanted to try a new pizza place for dinner tonight and paid Appizza a visit. Heck, it has to be good, it’s bold enough to have pizza in it’s name. They offered a fairly strong showing.
Their pizza selections of pre-built pies had a wide variety, but any restaurant that chooses to sting you for full price to swap a topping on one of these is a little stiff. Ca’mon man. We opted for some appetizers to enjoy the full Monty of Apps and Pizza @ Appizza, and ordered Mozzarella Sticks, calamari, and cheesy garlic bread. I’m ok with $10 for an appetizer, but the portions didn’t match the price, especially on the calamari. It was like 6 rings and whatever they could scrape out of the bottom of the bag, or so it looked . We also asked to substitute the standard marinara sauce and instead get vodka sauce, they did that but also shook us down for $3 for the substitution request. We should have seen that coming after seeing the same policy on pizza toppings. We went with the “Hungry Man” pizza. Crust was good, cooked perfectly, and we liked the style of their sausage being thin sliced and not big hunks of meat. As for the service and cook times, our server was really great. Friendly, attentive, and efficient. They told us immediately that pizzas could/would take about 45 minutes due to a big backup, but they didn’t say it in a mean way, just a nice FYI. We were ok with it. I think many places would have told us no pizza because it was getting close to closing time. So +1 to them for that. Ultimately, it only took about 20 minutes and was perfectly timed with our appetizers and delightful family discussion.
To the employee behind the bar that yelled “go islanders” as we were leaving and I was wearing a Tampa Bay Lightning shirt. Let’s hope that ages well for you starting at 3p today. If the bolts win, you owe me free topping swap on my next visit. ⚡️
All in all, pretty good visit, but fell short of a show stopping 5-star (not even counting islanders guy into my rating).
