After 3 months in and out of hospitals and rehab facilities, I've gotten a good taste of a poor facility and a great facility, and those in between. I have been so impressed with Brookdale Altamonte so far and am so happy I chose to move my 83 year old mom there.
The place is clean, it's nicely decorated, and looks "upscale." I'm impressed with David Wayne, the Exec Director. He truly seems to care about the residents and committed to his job. I've even seen him in there on Saturdays and Sundays when I went to visit my mom.
The staff is attentive, always responding to my mom's page within 5-7 minutes, and they are pleasant about it. They don't seem bothered like so many of the staff I experienced at other facilities. I've been pleasantly surprised at how many activities are available, and happy that they really encourage the residents to get out of their rooms, participate in the community and stay active.
My wife worked as a therapist for many years in geriatric environments and she too has been very impressed as well, so that says a lot.

While the occasional sock went missing in the laundry, it was more than made up for by the compassion and friendliness by the staff.
The staff and residents quickly became like a second family to her. We were so glad that she was able to live without us having to constantly worry about her.

(August 28, 2018, 8:02 pm)One of my friends is a resident here. She really enjoys it and I like to visit her Thursday afternoons, when they have happy hour and musical entertainment.
The staff are courteous and attentive every time I visit.
I'm glad that she's enjoyed it so much.

I enjoy all the compliments I receive on my plants and holiday decorations.
The staff are always willing to lend a helping hand.
