Matanzas River Animal Hospital

I was looking for a new vet, and someone in my neighborhood recommended Matanzas River. We went today for the first time, and saw Dr. Lopez.

We spent almost 2 hours there with our 3 dogs. The room was large, and clean. Vet techs Amanda and Dirk were great, especially with our nervous girl, Molly.(see photo)

Dr. Lopez was professional and thorough, and her bedside manner was great.

The front desk staff didn't seem very welcoming at first, but seemed to warm up a bit in the end.

I would recommend Matanzas River Animal Hospital for their staff, clean environment and reasonable prices.

When I first moved to St. Augustine, one of the most important things I needed was a good vet. Not just good, excellent. My 2 of my 3 Goldens do have underlying medical conditions.

I lucked out. A stranger recommended the hospital. I reviewed their website and quickly noticed that Dr. Lopez had a connection with my breed. That’s important to me.

Even before I officially was a client, I called them to see if they could work one of my Goldens in b/c I thought he had injected a foreign object. They couldn’t see him, recommended the local ER where the problem was resolved. Yet, even though I wasn’t a client, they called the next day to see how my dog was doing.

My appointments are always timely. If there’s a problem, they work me in.

I’m the first to admit I am a high-maintenance client. Always have questions, and often have suggestions. They always take the time (either in person or by email) to answer concerns and explain why or why not my recommendations are appropriate.

Thank you for helping our retired K9 cross the bridge. The staff was so caring and understanding and let us have as much time with our puppy as we needed after he passed. Thank you so much we all needed that time with him. You all are amazing

Dr. Lopez & the staff here are wonderful. I showed up with an emergency appointment & even though they were understaffed Matanzas River Animal Hospital was extremely thorough & my cat is feeling much better 🙏🏻 I drove from Palm Coast (about half an hour) but it was completely worth it because the care was invaluable. I would definitely return if God forbid any of my pets were to become ill & I would highly recommend this veterinary practice to pet owners anywhere

I have been taking my pups to see both Dr Lopez and Dr Nicholas since 2015. The staff are always friendly and helpful and make my dogs feel special every time they come in. Most recently, the staff and Dr Lopez helped my dog with senior care and end-of-life care for my dog Beau. He was a 12 year old boxer with arthritis and degenerative myelopathy. Any time I had a question or needed refills, they were available. I was worried about euthanizing Beau at the vet's office, as he was a rescue and would usually tremble and pant when visiting for check-ups. Looking back, I'm really glad I brought him in. The staff were so sweet to him, and because I trust and respect the relationship Dr Lopez has formed with my dogs, I knew he would be in the best hands at the practice. I will continue to take my 4 year old boxer and any future pups to her. Dr Lopez and Laura's care for Norbert makes me smile. Thank you MRAH for all that you do for my boys :)
