I had both hips replaced by Dr. Garrett over a two year span and I would recommend Dr. Garrett and his staff to anyone. The second hip got infected and Dr. Garrett was very aggressive with his treatment and care. He even cut short a family vacation to come back and treat the infection before it became a real problem. He is very attentive, explained all the procedures thoroughly, and I never felt rushed during office visits, no matter how many questions I asked.
I also want to praise his staff: NP Derek Dubois, NP Abby Core, and PA Elliot Dunoff-Romero. Very caring, attentive, and thorough with their care. I even received several phone calls from them outside the scheduled office visits to see how I was feeling.
Professional, caring, connectable. Dr. Garrett knew exactly what needed to be done and he did it, the first time. He made it clear that his goal was the same as mine, to get me back to an active lifestyle.
Within three weeks of a hip replacement I was walking 2 1/2 miles a day with no cane or walker with minimal discomfort.
At this rate I see me back on the hiking trail within six weeks.
My husband, Dale Hope, had his knee replaced by Dr Garrett in February 2021. To say his surgery was a success is an understatement. His surgery was better than we would have ever imagined. Not only was Dr. Garrett professional and knowledgeable, he was thorough with the whole process. He and his staff ALWAYS made time to answer any and all questions we had. We always felt like our time in that office was important and valued. Never did we feel as though we were being rushed through or just another patient. Not only was the surgery amazing, the follow-up was the best. We used the app we were provided, by Dr Garrett, that helped with each phase of pre-surgery and recovery, as well as PT, and a lifeline to any of the medical team for any questions or concerns we had. Dale was up and walking right after surgery and back home to sleep in his own bed that very night. The therapy team ensured we were equipped at home to make the recovery flawless. They also ensured Dale could walk down the steps to our room and bathroom the very day he had the replacement. I won't lie..recovery is tough; however, if you follow the app and do the exercises PT has individualized just for each patient you will never regret your decision to have Dr. Garrett as your surgeon. We feel so blessed to have Dr Garrett, and his team, in our lives and so will you!!!!
Dr Garrett performed hip replacement surgery in May and total knee replacement in October and could not be happier with him as my surgeon and the results I have experienced.
Initial office visits and subsequent visits were very thorough, he explained things well, and I appreciated that he provided options of care without surgery.
Ultimately, I chose surgery as my hip was bone on bone and had such pain that I could not walk.
The hip replacement was remarkable - super non invasive and my recovery was very quick. Came home and climbed stairs and was walking without pain immediately after surgery. Did all my physical therapy using his online portal Force Therapeutics and was 100 percent in just a couple of weeks. I was amazed.
I had heard knee replacements were much more difficult than hip so I prepared myself mentally and decided to do Physical Therapy locally for my knee. Again, surgery was flawless and I had very little pain and was able to be active right away. Came home and climbed the stairs immediately following surgery and started PT and using the knee the very next day.
My PT even commented that Dr Garrett has some magic in his formula as they see lots of patients post hip and knee surgery and Dr Garrett has the magic sauce for controlling pain and the PT said his joints are always so much more nimble than others. On my first day in PT (day after surgery), there was a woman who had her knee replaced 6 months earlier and was struggling and she was amazed that I was one day post op and asked who my surgeon was . . . He is that good!
I would have to agree based on my experience, the combination of medicine and blocks given in surgery allowed me to get deep into physical therapy before I really experienced the post surgical pain and at 3 weeks I am active and walking the dogs and running errands and well on my way to full recovery - still doing my physical therapy but I feel great and the recovery pain is manageable with just Tylenol and Advil.
Would recommend Dr. Garrett and his team without hesitation!
Had a hip replacement almost 2 years ago and Dr. Garrett did an awesome job!! I'm totally painfree and the recuperation was really a breeze! Walked the hall in the hospital the evening of surgery without a walker. Only one night in hospital. He and his whole team are outstanding and I have recommended him to many people. Would not hesitate using him again if I needed hip or knee surgery.
